Sirio was born on the 2nd of July 1976 in Chitungwiza which is a high density suburb north of Harare. He went to Chinembiri Primary School and Seke 2 High School in Chitungwiza. Sirio has four brothers and three sisters. His brothers Tonderai and Kumbirai also sculpt. Sirio began sculpting in 1993 in Chitungwiza. In 1999 Sirio worked as an assistant to his brother Tonderai who at the time was the Resident Artists Program at Chapungu Sculpture Park for a year. Sirio was influenced to begin sculpting by his brother Tonderai who taught him to sculpt. Sirio began by assisting with the finishing touches of his works by washing, sanding and polishing the pieces, this the basis of him training he learned that perfect finish was most important to good sculpture whilst at Chapungu he would watch and greatly appreciate other Artists in residence at the Sculpture park, most of all Dominic Benhura, who encouraged him to be original in his approach to Sculpting Sirio is a young up and coming artist in the sculpting community in Zimbabwe. His perseverance and dedication has proven to be his success as a sculptor. Sirio has taken part in a local workshop at Dominic Benhura?s Studio in 2002. He looks forward to further exchange with other Sculptors who he can learn and further establish himself.
